Africa is Calling
Discover the beauty, peace and tranquillity of the bushveld nestled at the foot of the Witwatersberg mountain range and experience the exhilaration of being close to the Big 5 of Africa when you attend the 2023 WFTF (World Field Target Federation) World Championships in South Africa.
This Championship promises to be the one to remember with its own unique character.
WFTC2023 will be held at Kommandonek Resort, situated in a tranquil game reserve with free roaming wildlife, it promises to be a spectacular experience. The resort is on the banks of the Hartbeespoort dam, situated 1hr 30 minutes from OR Tambo International Airport (86km/54miles).
The area is a popular tourist destination which offers a range of activities from thrilling adventures to the more sedated, depending on what you seek. South Africa also successfully hosted the 1995 Rugby World Cup, the 2010 FIFA World Cup as well as World Championships in a variety of sports.
That is not all there is to this versatile location, the Cradle of Humankind, known as one of the eight World Heritage sites is less than 30 minutes drive from the resort. The Cradle is home to more than 3 dozen limestone caves containing some of the earliest hominid fossils ever discovered.
The nearby Lion & Safari Park offer Self Drive Safaris, bush walks and guided tours. The nearby Hartbeespoort Aerial Cableway offers sweeping mountain views of the dam with a restaurant situated at the top of the cableway.
The competition area is situated in an enclosed, secure game camp. The essence of Africa will be reflected in the layout and design of the courses.
